These instruments have adjustable minimum and maximum switch contacts that close when the pointer hits pre-selected values. The switch contacts have terminals on the rear of the instruments which can be wired through an appropriate relay to buzzers, alarms, lights, dehumidifiers or humidifiers. Note that the switch contacts can carry a maximum of 24 volts. For switching voltages of 100V or over, an appropriate relay must be used.
An internal Durotherm™ (man-made fiber) element expands as humidity increases and contracts as humidity decreases. This expansion and contraction is mechanically linked through precision bearings and gears to the humidity indicating pointer. Once contact switch closes — a 3% relative humidity change is needed to open switch. A five percent difference is necessary between high and low contacts. Six inches overall 5" dial, Chrome case.
